Shadrach Hepner
Plasma Physicist
"I’m really excited to be somewhere with an awesome work culture and a cool mission."
Shadrach joined Avalanche from the east coast, where he studied physics at Georgia Tech before earning a Ph.D. in aerospace engineering with a focus on plasma propulsion from the University of Michigan. His dissertation work focused on the role of instabilities in the electron dynamics of magnetic nozzle thrusters. His work outside of academia included time spent at Lockheed Martin, NASA’s Glenn Research Center and MIT Lincoln Laboratory.
At Avalanche, Shadrach works as a plasma engineer to design and operate tests and diagnose engineering challenges.
Shadrach enjoys running and cycling and if you’re lucky, you may be graced by his newly developed swing dancing talents.
